Vastu for Educational Institutes
In 2005 The Centre for Learning and Teaching at School of Education, University of Newcastle conducted a study called the Impact of School Environments: A literature review
It is a detailed and exhaustive study of the impact of environment on education. The Study and many similar studies have focused on the impact of the architecture of the school building, classroom temperature, air quality, lighting, effect of colour, building decoration, acoustics, noise interruption, ventilation etc. on the teachers, students and school staff.
An important input is the intertwining of Vastu Architecture in designing Centres of learning. For Quality Education it is important that the right kind of Pranic Energy pervades these Centres. This would further ensure that the right kind of Consciousness pervades the students to enable them to touch higher level of learning.
Mentioned below is a general but important guideline for designing a building for an educational institute.
The first step is to identify all Marmas in the plot on which the building will come up. Marmas are very sensitive energy nodes where no pillar, wall or door should be built. All these nodes should be identified and dealt accordingly during designing.
The next logical step is to design the detailed layout of the school building in accordance with Vastu architecture.
Once the detailed layout is ready, Vastu calculations should be applied to arrive at the harmonious dimension of various parts of the Building like Classrooms, Laboratories, Library, Halls, Offices, Staff Quarters, Infirmary, Corridor, Stairs, Doors, Windows, Main Entrance, Meditation Room, Central Courtyard, Washrooms, Amphitheatre and other such areas etc. This is a long exercise, but it will ensure that the entire school building has a positive vibration and a harmonious rhythm.
Finer details like furniture arrangements in Classrooms, Office, Staff Rooms, Staff Quarter, position of the doors and windows, toilets, electricity points, position of the stairs, direction of slope of the roof, water harvesting points, electricity meter, underground water storage tanks, number of pillars, number of doors and windows etc. will have be taken into account as per Vastu architecture when planning the building.
Once the detailed layouts are approved by everybody then they are handed over to the architect for preparing the necessary architectural drawings for further work.
It is also important to calculate auspicious Muhurt to commence the construction and for the opening ceremony.
Designing an educational institute is akin to designing a temple, for both serve identical purposes. It is therefore of utmost importance that the Vastu practitioner should be well versed in designing, planning, calculating auspicious sizes, and astrological aspect of Vastushastra.
We at Vastusindhu design Temples of Learning where Learning and Creativity would become a natural process, where students would develop greater focus, better concentration and a sharp memory, where moral values will run high and students will emerge as world class citizen with sharp and intuitive minds.
